Mason's Lessons

Lesson Plan #1
Title:                Geometrical Shapes
Class:               I and II
Subject:           Mathematics
Practitioner:     Mason                                                 Facilitator:

Objectives
Methodology
Time
Material
Assessment

By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

Name various geometrical shapes

Recognise different shapes

Arrange the given list of names with respect to the  shapes

Warm-up:
The practitioner will show brick to the students and will ask them to name its shape.
The students will respond to the practitioner’s question.

Development:
The practitioner will demonstrate the brick layering in a step by step manner.

The facilitator will ask the students to name the shape of the brick and draw similar shape on their note book along with its name.

The practitioner will proceed with brick layering procedure until all three tools used in brick layering are introduced. The students will be asked to follow this step-by-step process.
The facilitator will assist the students in the hands-on activity.

In the end, the facilitator will ask the students to name and, later, recognise geometrical shapes. The facilitator will further assist students in writing/drawing the steps of brick layering a logical sequence.

Conclusion:
The facilitator will wrap-up the lesson by reinforcing the concepts of geometrical shapes and logical sequence.

Lesson Plan #2
Title:                Ratio and Proportion
Class:               V
Subject:           Mathematics
Practitioner:     Mason                                                 Facilitator:

Objectives
Methodology
Time
Material
Assessment

By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:

Understand the concept of ratio

Solve real life word problems

Warm-up:
The practitioner will ask from the students about ingredients used in the making of walls, floor and ceiling. The students will respond to the practitioner’s questions.

Development:
The practitioner will tell about the ingredients used in making walls, floor, and ceiling. S/he will also tell about the quantity in terms of ratios of each element used in the process.

The facilitator will write on the blackboard materials used in the process and ratios of each ingredient.

The practitioner will proceed with telling about the ratio of each item to be used in the construction of walls etc.

The students will be asked to note down the ratios and follow this step-by-step process.
The facilitator will assist the students in noting down the ratios and expanding through   hands-on activity.

In the end, the facilitator will ask the students to tell the material to be used in the construction of a house. The facilitator will further assist students in doing ratio sums.

Conclusion:
The facilitator will wrap-up the lesson by reinforcing the concepts of ratio and logical sequence.
